Robert Pat­tin­son shines in a roll very dif­fer­ent to Twilight

I HAD no idea what to expect from Remem­ber Me.
I thought maybe a dark ver­sion of a Nicholas Sparks type story.

And in that respect, I sup­pose, I was close – but it was noth­ing at all like what I expected as this is a film that is both heart­warm­ing and heart­break­ing at the same time.

Tyler (Robert Pat­tin­son) is a bit of a rebel, still cop­ing with his older brother’s sui­cide sev­eral years ear­lier, he has a tense rela­tion­ship with his dad (a rather snotty Pierce Bros­nan), and a very close rela­tion­ship with his lit­tle sis­ter Car­o­line (Ruby Jerins).

When Tyler and his best friend and room­mate Aidan (Tate Elling­ton) try to break up a fight, they end up get­ting arrested and Tyler gets beaten up by one of the policemen.

Later Aidan sets up Tyler with the policeman’s daugh­ter Ally (Emi­lie de Ravin) in order to get back at the cop­per who attacked him.

But Ally is strug­gling with a tragedy as well, and the two become drawn to each other in a series of really endear­ing moments.

The end­ing – which I won’t even hint at – came as a com­plete sur­prise to me.

I was sat watch­ing the film, and enjoy­ing it nonethe­less, when I found myself think­ing, how can this end?

And then it did – and I was utterly shocked, and saddened.

You really have to watch the film to see what I mean, but it will be both sad and uplift­ing at the same time.

Je ne savais pas à quoi m'attendre en allant voir Remem­ber Me.
Je pensais à une version sombre d'un roman de Nicholas Sparks
Et on peut dire que c'est à peu près ça – mais ce n'est rien à côté de ce qu'est ce film qui est à la fois chalaureux et qui vous brise le coeur.
Tyler (Robert Pat­tin­son) est un peu rebelle il essiae encore de faire face au suici de son frère depuis des années , il a une relation tendue avec son père (un très snob Pierce Bros­nan), et il est très proche de sa soeur Car­o­line (Ruby Jerins).
Quand Tyler et son meilleur ami / colocataire Aidan (Tate Elling­ton) tentent de s'interposer dans une bagarre , ils se font arrêtés et Tyler est battu par un des flics.
Plus tard Aidan arrange à Tyler un rendez vous avec la fille du flic, Ally (Emi­lie de Ravin) afin de se venger .
Mais Ally ifait elle aussi face à une tragédie , et ils partagent de doux moments.
La fin – que je ne révélerai pas – est une surprise complète.
J'ai vu ce film, et je m'ai aimé et je me demandais comment ça pouvait se finir?
Et là ce fut le choc et la tristesse
Ce film est absolument à voir , mais il est à la fois triste et envoie un message d'espoir.

C'est que du bonheur cette critique, enfin!!!!

I want to start off by saying Remember Me was not what I expected. It was a dark, gritty, emotional film where Robert Pattinson actually gets to showcase his talents. Nothing at all against the Twilight films (after all I’ve seen all the movies and read all the books like the rest of the girls out of there), but those films don’t require the range of emotions that this film does. And Pattinson nails it.

The film tells the story of Tyler (Robert Pattinson), a New York college student, who is still suffering the loss of his brother. It’s clear that he doesn’t know how to deal, and that is causing all kinds of problems in his life. When he tries to break up a fight in an alley and the cops come – his attitude doesn’t mesh well with the cop’s – which ends up landing Tyler and his friend Aidan in jail. In an effort to seek revenge on the cop, Aidan suggests that Tyler ask out the cop’s daughter, Ally (Emilie de Ravin) who happens to go to school with them. Tyler isn’t looking for revenge though, and quickly finds himself falling hard for Ally – who has also been through some horrific events and tragic loss in her past. Together, they seem to find that they have the ability to be happy again despite their emotional baggage and less than desirable family situations. However the same events that brought them together, threaten to pull them apart.

When I say the film wasn’t what I expected, I especially mean the ending – which actually had me saying “omigod” when I realized what was happening. And I have to give it credit, because there’s only been about three movies I’ve seen in my entire life that have ever been able to keep an ending that hidden from me. I sincerely did not see it coming – and that made the emotional impact all the more. So I won’t say anything else on that topic – as I want you to be able to experience what I felt as well.

Some might say that the film is manipulative or ill-conceived – or write it off completely because Pattinson is attached to the Twilight films, but I don’t feel that’s a fair assessment. One thing is for sure, it is an unforgettable and haunting story. It’s not an overly happy film, but it is worth checking out as it will remind you the importance of treasuring ever day of one’s life.

As far as special features there is a behind-the-scenes featurette and then also audio commentary with Robert Pattinson and the director Allen Coulter.

l'auteur dit qu'il ne s'attendait pas à ça. que c'est un film sombre et plein d'émotion et que robert pattinson y révèle son talent. il dit qu'il n'a rien contre les films twilight mais ces derniers ne nécessitent pas une aussi grande palette d'émotions que remember me.

Quand il dit qu'il ne s'attendait pas à ça c'est entre autre à cause de la fin. De toute sa vie il n'y a que pour 3 films qu'il n'avait pas venu venir les chose et ça a été aussi le cas pour remember me et c'est à ajouter au crédit du film, d'autant que ça renforce l'impact émotionnel.

Il estime que ceux qui critiquent le film sur la base qu'il est mal ficelé ou encore à cause de la présence de Robert Pattinson du fait de son statut dans la franchise Twilight sont injustes. A ses yeux le film est inoubliable et le récit envoûtant. Ca n'est pas un film sur la joie de vivre mais ce qui est intéressant c'est qu'il vous rappelle combien sont importants les petits bonheurs de chaque instant et que chaque jour compte.

Merci Valériane, çà fait plaisir à lire, j'ai tellement adoré ce film et j'attends ce DVD avec bcp d'impatience pour le revoir enfin en VO et bien sûr pour les bonus. Rarement un film ne m'avait autant touché.
